North island Saddleback/Tieke (Philesturnus rufusater) in Tawharanui Regional Park. This species calls often and is often found hopping around on the forest floor, foraging noisily. This one was photographed in the Tawharanui regional park. They are very susceptible to introduced mammalian predators and are only found in fenced or offshore predator-free reserves like Tawharanui.
