North Island robin (Petroica longipes) poses for photo to be taken in Tawharanui regional park. This charming insectivore can often be attracted nearer by stirring up leaf litter along the edge of the track to disturb insects and other small prey items. Unfortunately they population is declining and I have only seen them in protected reserves like Tawharanui.
