Alex and I decided to climb at Wye Creek in Queenstown the day before a running race we had entered. This date marked the beginning of my climbing goals overhauling my running goals. An injury to my heel caused by a fall on the last climb of the day caused me to pull out of the running race the next day :(

But Wye Creek turned out to be a beautiful place to climb and this was our first experience of climbing on schist. The view was also amazing as you can see from the photo of me red-pointing a nice climb on the main wall called “Bigger than Big” (grade 18 / 5.10a).

We need to get back down to Queenstown next Spring/Summer for another go! ;)
